On the scrounge

This morning I have mostly been trying to get stuff for free. I’ve emailed the ferry company asking for a free crossing; SmithKlineBeecham for free Lucozade (well, I’ve asked someone to call them for me); The Proclaimers, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes and Gary Moore for publicity. I think I’ll try Elastoplast and see if I can get some blister plasters or something as well.

It never hurts to ask. The worst they can do is say no!

rearrange to form well known phrase!

will try & put you in touch with my mate Mart who walked the length of South Island so may have some useful tips on distances you can expect to achieve etc.
Mind you, he was out in the wooly wilds so you’ll probably get better mileage if you’re doing it on paths etc.

That would be much appreciated. I think a fair bit is going to be

Alright, you’re on! All 1,000 miles (and I expect a local call in to inspect your blisters) and you can expect £100 of my dosh.

You have now got me hooked (and Rhian rolling her eyes) on the musical output of Me First And The Gimme Gimme Gimmes! Why didn’t I hear about them when I was a DJ?

Must email you sometime with some advice on grabbing freebies. From a guy who’s grabbed more freebies than you’ve had hot dinners (lately)!

SP: thank you for being my first official sponsor! Blister photos can be published online or seen in person (preferably with anyone giving me more money or a colod beer when I get back!)

Andy: Any help in blagging stuff appreciated. I think my folks may be sending a few letters on my behalf shortly. And MFatGG rock! Looking forward to seeing them at Graspop in June :)
